CIUDAD PERDIDA (LOST CITY)
DISCOVER THE WONDERS OF OLD TRIBES SURROUNDED BY NATURE!
The ‘Lost City’, also known under the name of ‘Teyuna’ is an ancient Indian village. It was built around the 7th and 8th century and is an archaeological site today. It is located in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, in the vicinity of Buritaca river. You reach this ancient city, crossing forests full of exotic fauna and flora, hanging bridges, mountains and waterfalls. In the middle of a rainforest with trees up to 50 meters high, there are the ruins of the great Tayrona empire, characterized by a sophisticated integration between nature, civilization and a wonderful stone architecture. Some of these settlements grew in size and architectural complexity and formed a regional center about 1,000 years ago. The park was inhabited by the Tayrona for several centuries before the arrival of the Spaniards. About 400 years ago, it was abandoned by them due to pressure from the Europeans.
This sacred site consists of over 250 terraces, divided into eight ‘districts’ that served to live, work and perform religious ceremonies. The sectors of the city were connected through a network of cobbled paths and stairs located on the slopes, guaranteeing access to the crop fields (similar to Machu Pichu). It is a site of special energy, where today some seek spiritual wealth, and others to get in touch with a wonder of the human past. Witness and enjoy this amazing city in the middle of a lush nature, declared in 1979 by UNESCO a Biosphere Reserve.
