The Natural National Park Sumapaz is located about two hours south of Bogotá. It is considered the largest páramo in the world, has a kind of ecosystem, unique to a few countries in the tropical area of Central and South America. This is a great place with mountainous characteristics, with huge ‘frailejones’, Andean bamboos, grasslands and hundreds of other native plants. It is one of the most beautiful mountain sceneries of the Colombian Eastern mountain range.
Due to its ecosystem, the park has countless water sources that even run beneath the surface of the earth, so its water wealth is invaluable, with hundreds of lagoons like Chisacá, Boca Grande, Laguna Larga, Laguna la Guitarra and Cajita. It is considered the world’s largest water factory, with 266,250 hectares.
Regarding wildlife, the park has species such as the spectacled bear, ocelot, puma, white deer, tapir, species of frogs, reptiles and birds like the Condor. Important species with a big diversity.
