QUEBRADA LA VIEJA
FEEL THE WONDERS OF NATURE IN THE MIDDLE OF BOGOTA!
One escapes from the city, walking up the ‘Cerros Orientales’. During the tour you can enjoy nature and its tranquility. Approaching the summit you can see the typical vegetation of semi-páramo, such as frailejones and other native species of this microclimate. Similarly, enjoy the magnificent view of Bogotá. Ideal for someone wanting to get out of town for a few hours, breathe fresh air, enjoy the vegetation and hike. The tour ends at the exit of the Natural Reserve north of Bogotá. As the tour ends early in the morning, there is enough time to visit the northern part of Bogotá, as in the Zona Rosa with its restaurants and shopping centers.
- 6:00am Meeting at the entrance to Transmilenio: Las Aguas station in the center of Bogotá
- 6:45am Entrance to the Nature Reserve
- Trekking of about 2,5 hours up the Cerros Orientales. On our way we follow parts of the river Quebrada La Vieja, climbing up through the cloud forests and finally getting to the Páramo with its typical vegetation. We pass by the stone Piedra Ballena, which offers a beautiful view of Bogotá. After a short rest, we continue our way to the final peak, with a spectacular view of Bogotá.
- We stay there for a few minutes before returning on the same path down to the exit of the Nature Reserve. This trek will take us about 1,5 hours.
- 10:30am Leaving the Nature Reserve and end of the trekking
- You still have all day left, so you could take advantage and visit the North of Bogotá. In half hour walking distance there is the Zona Rosa with its restaurants and shopping centers.

Comments:
- The hike is of average level. As it is a hike of ascent, approx. 2,600 meters to 3,300 meters, participants need to be in good physical condition.
- Please dress with comfortable shoes and jacket. Please bring a cap and sunscreen, plenty of water and something to eat on the way.
