Santa Fe de Antioquia is a small town located in the west of Medellin, a good choice when you want to escape the city. The town was declared a national monument for its colonial architecture. Characterized by cobblestone streets, colonial doors, balconies, squares and beautiful churches designed in a Renaissance style, built between the seventeenth and eighteenth century. Get to know the parks and squares that give life to this beautiful town. Admire its stunning scenery and enjoy a nice day of recreation in the countryside.
Get to know the ‘Puente de Occidente’, an engineering masterpiece of 19th century on the Cauca River, considered a national monument. It is one of the oldest and largest suspension bridges in Latin America. Originally this bridge was the longest of its kind on the continent. Therein lies its historic and cultural importance. At its time, it was very instrumental in the development of the region and the country.
Currently the bridge is no longer used for cars, as it over 200 years old, but has free access. You can walk on it and take pictures of the spectacular views, before returning to Medellín.
