VOLCANO AZUFRAL
DISCOVER THE MAGIC OF SULPHUR AND NATURE IN JUST ONE PLACE!
In southwestern Colombia, an hour and a half from Pasto, is located the small village of Túquerres. Home of spectacular volacano ‘Azufral’, with a height of 4.070m. It was declared a nature reserve in 1983. On its peak, there are three lagoons, ‘verde’, ‘negra’ and ‘blanca’, whose names come from their colors due to the content of iron and sulfur. Its thermal waters are acidic, smoking and of an average temperature of 8°C. This is an area with large water resources, since more than 70 creeks and estuaries spring here.
Also, this place is home to approximately 476 species of plants and to more than a dozen of animals. It is possible to observe fields of ‘frailejones’, tundra valleys, shrubs, bonsai, lichens, flowers of all colors and water cushions (which are capable of carrying more than 40 times its weight in water). Enjoy and recharge with all the energy provided by this natural paradise.
